IGC is an inclusive service-driven membership club. Our purpose is to bring like-minded local garden enthusiasts together and increase gardening knowledge through education and exploration. With a mission to conserve the local area's natural resources.
IGC Community Projects Include:
The Haven for Children Brevard County- fostering a love of gardening and teaching the children about growing sustainable fruit and vegetable gardens
Barrier Island Center- Friends of BIC funding and maintaining native plants, trails, and volunteer support where needed
Brevard County EEL program Hog Point Sanctuary- Educational and Experimental Project in conjunction with Conradina Chapter Florida Native Plant Society
Joy’s Memorial Garden South Beach Community Center
More About IGC
IGC general meetings consist of lunch provided by designated hostesses, an informative meeting, and a guest speaker presentation focusing on topics and resources related to our local area. The club also enjoys hands-on activities and field trips. We share tips and events in our Facebook Group. Guests and prospective members are encouraged to attend a meeting and enjoy the fellowship of like-minded gardeners. Please contact a club representative in advance to assure proper headcount for the luncheon. Use the “contact IGC” button or join our Facebook group.

September 11 2024
Noon IGC will kick off our 2024/2025 program year with a welcome-back tour of the Haven Home garden projects. After the tour, we will enjoy lunch at the Crowne Plaza Longboards Ocean Grille.

October 9 2024
9:00 a.m. IGC members and friends will meet at the Barrier Island Sanctuary for a work/clean-up day. The IGC has helped plant and maintain the Native Gardens as an ongoing project. Excellent opportunity to learn firsthand about Native Coastal Plants. We recommend wearing gloves and bringing your favorite weeding tool. Brown Bag Lunch.

November 13 2024
12-noon IGC members will meet at the Floridana Beach Community Center for a Natural Wreath Making Workshop. Lead by one of our members, Jane Rollins. Bring flowers, vines, and attractive natural elements like seed pods to create your wreath. Lunch provided by member hostesses RSVP required.

December 11 2024
11:00 am IGC will meet at member Julia Hill’s home for our annual Holiday Gathering. We will enjoy a festive brunch and fun gift exchange. The club also collects items for the Women’s Shelter (women’s items as well as small household items). RSVP to Julia by December 6th.

January 8 2025
10:00 am IGC will meet at the Joy and GordonPatterson Botanical Garden at Florida Institute of Technology for a self-guided tour . The garden includes stream bordered by a shady hammock abounding in palm trees and other tropical growth winding through the heart of the campus and is the setting for a 15-acre Botanical Garden. After the garden tour the group will eat lunch at The Lazy Turtle. RSVP required.

At noon, Join IGC for a romantic afternoon Valentine’s Tea and card-making activity. In the Eau Gallie Library. Don’t forget your hat and tea party attire. Members host this luncheon. RSVP to ensure adequate luncheon items. Cards will be delivered to an area retirement home.

March 12 2025
At noon, IGC will meet at the Eau Gallie Library for a talk led by Fine Artist and member Katherine Galbraith. Katherine is a nationally recognized artist who has received numerous awards and recognition throughout her career. She was awarded Signature Status from the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, and the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society. Member hostesses provide lunch RSVP required.

April 9th 2025
At noon, IGC will meet at the Eau Gallie Library for a Butterfly Garden Workshop. and discuss how to create a garden and landscape to nurture butterflies. Learn how to certify your garden as a butterfly habitat. Member hostesses provide lunch. RSVP required.

IGC will conclude our program schedule with a “bring your own lunch” gathering hosted by member Beth Glover in her lovely Floridana Tropicals Nursery. Beth is a wonderful source of knowledge and specializes in hard-to-find coastal species grown from seed. The nursery is located in Floridana.
